Fuggerei - The oldest social settlement in the world
The Fuggerei is a kind of city in the city, which is still maintained by the Duke`s and Count`s Fugger foundations. Jakob Fugger the Rich and his brothers founded it in 1516. It is the oldest social settlement in the world. Only citizens who got in need innocenly are allowed to live here. It involves 67 houses with 147 apartments, a church and a fontain.
The annual rent is still one "Rheinischer Gulden", equivalent to about 0,88€.
