We are: three houses, united at one location, three concepts, one shared ambition: suitable stays for different needs. The flagship of Patchworkhotels Augsburg, Alpenhof \u2013 the Patchworkhotel<\/strong> \u2013 represents our 4-star segment. Gasthaus G\u00e4stekiste<\/strong>, with uncomplicated and simple rooms, is our house for shorter stays. Wohnfakturei<\/strong>, our boarding house, is the segment for guests who stay longer in Augsburg.You\u2019ll also find 2 restaurants: the Schn\u00fcrschuh<\/strong>, for lovers of traditional Bavarian cuisine and Wilde 13<\/strong>, our fine-dining restaurant for private groups of 10 or more. History<\/h2>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text el_class=”my_max_width_wide”]The Alpenhof \u2013 being founded in the 60s by our grandparents Ernst and Anna Sch\u00f6n \u2013 has a well-established tradition in Augsburg. Ernst Sch\u00f6n had the idea to provide long-distance drivers with a cozy place to stay the night. So he built the \u201cRasthaus Sch\u00f6n\u201c in 1956, which became a domicile for truck drivers and American armed forces stationed in Augsburg for many years.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”my_max_width_wide”]In 1964 Ernst and Anna Sch\u00f6n decided to grow their business: today\u2019s G\u00e4stekiste, took shape and the \u201cRasthaus Sch\u00f6n\u201d got a new name: Alpenhof. That name wasn\u2019t pulled out of thin air; our founders always had a fondness for the mountains. Furthermore, with \u201cA\u201d being the first letter of the alphabet, the Alpenhof was put at the very front of phone books and registries. In 1972, during the Olympic Games, the highest building on our gorund, the today’s Alpenhof the Patchworkhotel, was added, followed by House III, that fits also into the 4star range, in 1978 \u2013 The Alpenhof was steadily expanding.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”837″ img_size=”full” css_animation=”fadeInLeft”][vc_column_text el_class=”my_max_width_wide”]At some point the hotel needed to be handed down to the next generation \u2013 to sons G\u00fcnter, a chef, and Walther, a trained hotel manager. Marlene, G\u00fcnter Sch\u00f6n\u2019s wife, also joined the business. This trifecta, consisting of mum, dad and uncle, continued the Alpenhof on behalf of Ernst Sch\u00f6n: it became a well established guesthouse over the years.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”839″ img_size=”full” css_animation=”fadeInRight”][vc_column_text el_class=”my_max_width_wide”]Today, with us, Andreas and Alexander Sch\u00f6n, at the helm (our Mum Marlene in the backround), the Alpenhof consists of three Segments and some houses \u2013 for now at least. It seems that building and constructing lies in the Sch\u00f6n genes \u2013 2004 we created our spa area Palaestra, 2006 our Eventpalais was fully realized with the apartment\u2019s Atelier and Jagdh\u00fctte. In 2026, we restructured the things: Alpenhof became Patchworkhotels Augsburg. These are now divided into the already mentioned Alpenhof the Patchworkhotel, Gasthaus G\u00e4stekiste, and the brand-new Wohnfakturei \u2013 our segment for longer stays in Augsburg. With that comes a lot of room for ideas and creativity. We value individuality, which can be felt all over our rooms and premises. You may find a shoe last converted into a lamp stand or a pen holder, an old church pew as part of a modern desk or maybe a herb garden as the roof of our G\u00e4stekiste; if you\u2019re lucky, you might even catch one of our chefs on the hunt.<\/p>\n

Every person is special – each one of us. And that’s exactly what we want to convey to you. Of course, there are also processes here at the Alpenhof that we must and want to comply with – such as breakfast or wellness times. Nevertheless, if you need a stomach sturgeon before 6 o’clock in the morning because you have to leave so early: talk to us!
