We are currently aware of fraudulent emails and WhatsApp messages being sent to guests in the name of our hotel. These messages can look highly professional and may even contain specific details about your booking.

Fraudulent messages may be sent in the name of:

Gasthaus Gästekiste
Wohnfakturei

Please note: These messages are NOT from us!

For your protection, please be aware of the following:

• We do NOT send emails or WhatsApp messages containing a link asking you to confirm or verify your booking.
• We do NOT ask you to follow a link and enter payment details, credit card information, bank details or personal information in order to confirm your booking.
• We do NOT send emails regarding alleged invoice corrections, credits or refunds asking you to follow a link and provide details in order to receive a payment.
• Please be particularly cautious if a message asks you to follow a link and enter personal or payment information.

Fraudulent messages may contain genuine booking details

This is particularly important: Fraudulent messages may contain our name, your booking number, your travel dates or other genuine information relating to your reservation. This can make these messages appear extremely convincing.

Correct or familiar booking details are NOT proof that a message actually came from us.

Have you received a suspicious message?

Please do NOT click on any links in the message and do not enter any personal or payment information.

If you are unsure whether a message is genuine, please contact us only via the official contact details provided on our websites. Our team will be happy to check whether the message actually came from us.

If you have already entered payment, credit card or bank details via such a link, please contact your bank or credit card provider immediately. We also recommend reporting the incident to the police.

Where did the data come from?

Based on the information currently available to us, there is no indication of unauthorised access to our own systems. The fraudulent messages currently being reported appear to be associated with reservations made via external booking platforms.

At present, we cannot conclusively determine where or how the perpetrators obtained access to individual booking details. We take the security of your data very seriously and are closely monitoring further developments.

If possible, please send us a screenshot of the complete message or forward the suspicious email to us. Please also tell us which booking platform you used to make your reservation.
